  1. It is what it is guys. This shows how out of touch the executive branch of AT&T is with reality. Like Glen said, the health care plan's great. What he doesn't say is its great IF you can survive the initial out of pocket hit. If the average pay for a CAs and IAs is $11/hour, we shoulder a higher percentage of out of pocket expenses compared to all other positions covered under this contract. The LAST person I want telling me how WONDERFUL this health plan is an executive whose toughest decision won't be, "Should I get my kid the asthma medication or pay the gas bill?"

Grossing about $20-22k/year, a $3000+ deductible for the family, or for a single person a $1200+ deductible is a chunk of money that's hard to come by no matter how you cut it. FSAs are a nice thing to have, but most of us live paycheck to paycheck.

For us, seeing that Tier 2 employees are getting a lump sum offer was, putting it mildly, just another slap in the face of CAs. What's good for the goose isn't good for the gander?

And, just a fact check, the starting wage for a CA is just over $10/hour, which in some areas of the contract is just $1.75 per hour above MINIMUM WAGE. This is a skill-driven professional job that's being retarded to fit the pay scale-they want the skillsets that we have but don't want to pay us. Rather, send the "skilled" work toward non-union contractors that work under the "Connectech" banner.

Since the job description was never finalized for the last contract, there's never been any real negotiation for CAs until now.

For what its worth, the stress I'm under is strong enough that's landed me in the hospital in the past. If the good lord chooses to take me home before my time, I just hope I'm on the job and the company is forced to answer questions about what leads to this kind of pressure.

Glen. That's my ulcer's middle name. Randall is its first name.

  2. Great post. Glen is completely out of touch with reality. He doesn't care about us at all.
